My name is Anne-Marie Joncas, I am a Canadian Ski Cross athlete. I grew up in two awesome ski towns: Mont-Tremblant and Whistler, with two passionate skiers for parents, giving me the perfect setting to pursue skiing. I started skiing at age 3, started racing at age 10, and started competing in Ski Cross at age 16. Following my first major Ski Cross race, I realized how passionate I felt about Ski Cross and decided to make a full switch from alpine to Ski Cross in 2023.
After being injured in 2022, I worked hard to qualify for the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Korea where I competed in January 2024. Gaining more confidence and skills throughout the winter, I got to finish my 2023/2024 season as U19 Canadian National Champion. I am currently in my first year on the University of Calgary's Dinos Ski Cross Team and will be competing in the NorAm circuit this year. I am also going to represent Canada at the World University Games in Italy in January 2025. While in Europe I will also be competing in my first Europa Cup. I know competing in Europe will be a challenging yet valuable experience. I will be coming back to North America to compete in the Nor-Am circuit with two competitions in the US and one in Alberta. This season, I strive to qualify for the World Junior Championships and hope to do Canada proud! After starting the winter off strong with two Nor-Am podiums, I am feeling the strongest and most confident yet and can't wait to see what I can achieve this season!
As a non-national team Ski Cross athlete, I receive no federal or provincial support. I am extremely grateful to my parents who have supported me financially throughout my skiing career. As more opportunities arise to represent my country regionally and internationally, the cost greatly increases. To continue to pursue skiing, I need external support to help relieve the financial burden.
Your support will go directly into helping my 2024/2025 season. Donors will receive an official tax-deductible donation receipt. Any donation, big or small, can make a huge difference!
