My name is Charlotte Boies, and I am an 18-year-old ski racer. Skiing has been a part of my life since I was three years old, when I joined the Stoneham Ski Racing Club. My passion for the sport led me to join Skibec, my region’s elite ski racing team, where I trained intensively and achieved significant milestones, including winning the overall provincial champion title in my first year of U16. During my second year in U16, just as I was at my peak performance, I faced a major setback. I tore my ACL and meniscus, which felt like a nightmare. The injury required surgery, followed by an intense rehabilitation process.
Despite the challenges, I returned to skiing just six months post-op. My first year in FIS was all about regaining confidence and slowly re-entering courses. Although I faced rejection from the Quebec Ski Team due to my post-injury FIS points, I persevered and joined S1 Racing, a private team that has led me to where I am today. I recently concluded my second season with S1, achieving multiple podium finishes. These accomplishments have significantly lowered my FIS points to 37 in slalom and 45 in giant slalom, showcasing my extraordinary dedication.
Next season, I aim to further reduce these points while being based in Europe and competing in the NORAM circuit in North America. As a versatile skier, I am currently ranked 5th in Canada in my age group for both slalom and giant slalom. My goal for this season is to qualify for the World Junior Championships and represent Canada. As my ski team is private, it is not subsidized, making my seasons very expensive. I hope that through my partnership with Snow Athletes Canada, I can get support to raise money for my travels and equipment, helping me to ultimately reach my end goal of racing on the World Cup circuit.
