My name is Colton McHatten, I am 16 years old and my dream is to be a pro snowboarder. My parents wanted me to learn to ski before I learned to snowboard, but even from the beginning I was drawn to snowboarding. I started riding when I was 9 years old, and almost instantly fell in love with the sport. My first competition was a stop on the BC provincial series, where I placed almost dead last. Since then I have risen through the ranks, picking up 5 gold medals so far this season, along with taking a podium spot in Jr nationals and the BC winter games last spring. Currently I am ranked within the top 20 canadian snowboarders on the World snowboard federation list. This is my second season on the BC provincial snowboard team, and I aim to make it onto the Canadian national team.
Your support would allow me more opportunities for year round training, which is proving to be an important step towards achieving my goals. Between school and training, I also find time to work park crew at my local mountain, and train in the gym. I would love to see how far snowboarding can take me.
