My name is Jackson McGowan, I have been snowboarding almost all my life as I started when I was 6 with my dad, and I have grown to be a competitor in events all across the country. Although snowboarding is my main sport, I also love to go white water kayaking as well as climbing in the off season. Prior to last season, I retired from competitive swimming in order to devote myself fully in the competitive season to snowboard cross. I am currently in high school and train at Mont Ste. Marie with club Prestige.
My riding has been improving and getting more consistent with each passing year. In the past, I would often either get first or crash due to my tendency to go all out. This has been one of my best years for snowboarding, with me getting on to the podium three times and ending in the top three on the Quebec circuit at the end of the season. I’m hoping for more opportunities this season to race in my home province of Ontario.
Goals
-improve my consistency across a broader range of tracks
-stay on the Ontario Provincial Team
-improve my result at nationals
-compete well in a NORAM race
-compete in a world cup event
