My name is Keira McLaughlin and skiing has been a major part of my life since I was two years old. I grew up skiing in the Rocky Mountains up until FIS where I chose to attend Burke Mountain Academy. During my time there; I was able to focus on high level training and racing while still achieving an education. I graduated from BMA summer of 2024.
This season (2024/25), I have been named to the Alberta Provincial Ski Team and I am stoked to be skiing back at home. So far, throughout the preseason camps my goals have been to get back to the basics and build consistency with stronger skills so I can send it down the course. I will be aiming to put in good results at NORAM events while attending other FIS races to lower my points.
Over my first two years of FIS I have had to come back from two major injuries which have been very challenging. I have worked hard to recover and I am looking forward to a full season ahead of me. These injuries have taught me numerous lessons, and I have learned to trust in myself and in the process. Looking toward the future, one of my main goals is to ski on the NCAA circuit at a D1 level. I am striving to make as much progress as I can this year, but it also comes with a cost. To compete at NORAM events, it requires extensive travel across the country and throughout the USA which comes with large financial costs.
I highly appreciate any and all support, and I can’t begin to express my gratitude for all of your help.
Thank you so much, and I hope to see you out on the slopes!
