Kyle Germain is a 16-year old snowboarder from Fort McMurray, Alberta. A member of Alberta’s Provincial Halfpipe Team, Kyle moved with his family to Calgary when he was 12 years old, but his love of Snowboarding started well before that on a small hill behind his parent’s house in Fort McMurray where he would spend cold winter days building jumps and hitting spins and backflips.

From those little icy kickers to Winsport’s manicured halfpipe and XL jumps, Kyle hasn’t let his late start in competitive snowboarding get in the way of doing what he loves. Kyle has podiumed several times at Provincial events, and in 2024 finished 16th at Nationals.  A 2024 highlight for Kyle was being selected to be the forerunner for the Snow Rodeo at Winsport, and he loved riding up with the “big kids” and hitting the pipe with music and a crowd below him.

For the 2024/2025 season, Kyle will keep pushing for success and will start riding in slopestyle competitions as well as halfpipe. Known for big time inverts and smooth clean 3’s, Kyle is looking forward to exploring his upside in the slopestyle discipline as well, but he still loves the vertical feeling of being tossed upwards up 22 feet of ice in the pipe. Kyle is a student at the National Sports School (NSS) at Winsport so never finds himself too far from the slopes. Kyle also loves everything snowboarding and that Calgary has to offer, and loves finding powder in the mountains with his dad and brother, or setting up in a quiet part of Sunshine Village’s slack country and building a jumps with pillowy landings to try new tricks. When it isn’t snowing, Kyle likes riding his scooter, hiking in the mountains, and wakesurfing.

Kyle’s goal is to take snowboarding as far as he can, and ultimately wants to give back. Kyle has had many coaches who’ve had a big impact on him and Kyle hopes to one day be a coach as well and give back to a new generation of little shredders and be a positive impact to them.
