I am Michael Nazwaski, an Alpine Snowboard racer from Toronto. My story is one of hard work and dedication, as I have had to put in countless hours of training both on and off the slopes to achieve my remarkable success at a young age.
My passion for snowboarding started when I was just five years old and I got my first board. I honed my skills at Beaver Valley Ski Club and started racing competitively when I was nine. By the time I was 12, I had won my first Snowboard Ontario race and placed fourth at the Junior National Championships.
During the off-season, I work tirelessly to support the financial commitments required at this level of competition. But it's all worth it when I get to compete on the Nor-Am, Europa, and World Cup tours. In fact, I earned a spot on the Canadian National team as part of the NextGen program in 2017.
Since then, I have achieved several notable accomplishments, including being the youngest-ever winner of a Nor-Am PGS and winning a silver medal at the 2019 World Junior Championships PSL. I have also earned three top-30 World Cup results and currently rank number 56 in the world 12 on the Europa Cup and second on the Nor-Am Cup.
Building on my success, I remain focused on my goals. Going into the 2023-2024 season, I aim to continue competing on the Nor-Am, Europa, and World Cup tours with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
My story is a testament to the fact that with perseverance and commitment, anything is possible.
