"Hi, my name is Tadas Valadka. I am a 17 year old skier from the Georgian Peaks Ski Club in The Blue Mountains, Ontario. I’ve been skiing since I was about 1.5 years old, competing since I was 7, and I am currently skiing on the Ontario Development Ski Team as a 2nd year FIS athlete.
I’ve always had a passion for ski racing, and through all of the ups and downs, this sport has taught me tons of valuable lessons that not only help me succeed on the hill, but that will help me throughout the rest of my life. Whether it's travelling around the world, the friends I’ve made along the way, or the lessons that I’ve learned, there are countless aspects of skiing that, to me, make it one of, if not the best aspect of my life.
After this season I am hoping to attend the University of Calgary and continue racing while also earning an Engineering degree, but my long-term goal is to be able to make it to the highest level of racing and hopefully make a career out of doing what I love, ski racing.
Now, if you didn’t already know, skiing is a very expensive sport with all of the necessary equipment, team costs, the need to travel for training/racing and more. This is why I’m very thankful to have help from Snow Athletes Canada to aid in easing some of the financial requirements of this sport. Any donations will greatly help me fund my journey to achieve my dream of being a successful, professional ski racer.
