NEVER TOO LATE!
My name is William St-Germain. I am currently a member of a private ski racing team called Global Racing. My path is unique as I returned to ski racing in 2022 after having to retire from skiing 4 years ago. My goal and my dream is to reach the top level of my sport, the World Cup circuit and the Olympics in 2026.
In 2018, a serious knee injury put a stop to my career. After graduating from the University of Vermont that same year, I decided to join the workforce as a mechanical engineer for APN Global, an aerospace manufacturing company based in Quebec city. After 4 years of retirement, I chose the improbable. My dream of becoming an Olympian came back to life . I decided to return to competition. I joined Global Racing to get the best environment there is apart from National teams. Against all odds, I came from starting from no FIS points to becoming even faster than I was before my retirement. In 2 years, I went from being a full time engineer to the top 80 in the World in Giant Slalom. In the Nor-Am GS overall standings, I finished 4th North American . For the 2024-2025 season, I am knocking on the door for potential starts on the World cup circuit. I am currently ranked as 2nd Canadian in the FIS GS world ranking. Here is a summary of my skiing career to date:
Teams I was part of:
- Skibec 2007-2010
- Quebec Team 2010-2013
- Canadian National Team 2013-2014
- University of Vermont ski team 2014-2017
- Global Racing 2022- to now
Results:
- 9e Super G World Junior Championship in 2013
- 5 Noram podiums
- GS actual FIS world ranking: 78
- SL actual FIS world ranking : 159
- All american first team slalom (2nd at NCAA championship in 2017)
- 8 victories and 16 podiums on the NCAA circuit
- 24 FIS victories
I am fully motivated to reach my dream and show the world that it is never too late to achieve anything you desire. I hope to motivate ski racers to stay in their sport as long as they are motivated and believe they can improve and go faster.
My main challenge is the financial requirements. I was able to finance my two previous seasons with my savings, and the support of my family. This season, I will need to raise funding to meet my budget which consist of: the Global Racing program fees, travel expenses and equipment,
I am seeking support to secure funding and sponsorships of my Olympic journey. Any type of help will be greatly appreciated.
I thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
