Hi there, I'm William Scott, a 21-year-old snowboarder from Val-Des-Monts, Québec.

I've been falling in control (snowboarding) since the age of 4. At the time, I would build my balance and work on skills with the main goal of having fun. Fast forward 8 years, and I entered my first snowboard-cross race— a flame was lit. Working my way up the ranks in provincial races over the next two seasons, I earned a spot on the Québec provincial development team, starting the 2018-19 season.

In the next 4 seasons, after spending much time at the gym or on my mountain bike during the off-season, I got busy competing in multiple FIS, Noram Cup, and Europe Cup races. I managed to finish in the top 10 in the Noram standings for two years in a row and even got my first World Cup starts in Italy, France, and Canada’s Bataille Royal SBX World Cup on home soil in Mont-St-Anne, Québec.

In the 2023-24 season, I entered my first Alpine Noram race at Val-St-Côme, Québec, where I competed against the Canadian national team and the Japanese national team. I managed a respectable 29th rank for the day with no previous training.

A new flame was lit!

I had initially planned to focus on school and work for the 2024-25 season and slowly step away from the SBX competition scene, but at the same time, I wanted to dabble my toes in Alpine for “fun.” With that in mind, I bought a new Kessler alpine race board and signed up for the same Noram I competed in the year prior at VSC, QC.

I would like to clarify that going into this season, I have about 30 days (in total, over my life) on Alpine boards with no coaching. That being said, I was able to take P14 and P10 at the VSC alpine race (Jan 2nd-4th, 2025), competing against our Canadian national team, as well as some of the USA next-gen team. This surprised many coaches and athletes, and myself— I had just broken my first top 10 Noram and gained enough points to be eligible for a World Cup start in February. All that, after only 2 races ever in Alpine!

My goal now is to compete in 3 more Norams this season and possibly the World Cup to earn a good overall North American standing and secure a spot on the Québec Snowboard Élite Speed Team for next season.

My plans for this year went from focusing on school and work to adding 5 Alpine races into the mix—races I hadn’t financially planned for.

If I could ask for a shot at chasing my dreams of being a professional snowboarder, I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity than this, and I don’t want to miss it.

I’m in no way able to fund this season by myself as things stand, and it breaks me to see my dreams fade like they have in the past. i apreciate any help i can get to acheive greatness in my controlled falling career  :-)

thank you.
