My name is Gabby Olsen and I’ve been snowboarding for 14 years now. Ever since my first competition at the age of 7, I fell in love with snowboarding. I love the part of snowboarding where I get to travel to new places and meet new people. My number one reason why I love doing competitions is because of the adrenaline that pumps through me before I drop in, and even if I don't win I progress and become a better snowboarder. I idolize how snowboarding takes me away from my problems and I get to see some of the beautiful places Mother Nature has created. Competing in the Canada Winter Games as part of Team Alberta was an incredible experience for me. I pushed my limits and overcame lots of inner fears. I managed to reach the finals in every event. I finished 8th in slopestyle at the Winter Games. I have also podiumed in four provincial series events has only fueled my passion for the sport. These are just a small step into the hard work and dedication I have put into snowboarding and am willing to continue to pour into snowboarding.
My ultimate goal is to turn this passion into a profession. I dream of going pro and making a name for myself in the snowboarding world. However, this journey comes with its own set of challenges, mainly in terms of funding for gear and the necessary trips to compete at a higher level. The money donated will be used towards paying for my snowboard gear such as boots, binding, and snowboard. It will also help pay for travel fees including any hotels, flights, or gas. For some of the competitions I will be competing in this year, there will be an entrance fee so your donations would help cover the cost for that as well. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
Outside of snowboarding, I find joy in art, which allows me to express myself in unique ways. I love going on adventures, and I'm undoubtedly an adrenaline junkie. These aspects of my life add a fun and exciting element to my personality, shaping the path I'm on and the exciting future I hope to achieve.
