My name is Emma James, a 16 year old ski racer from Toronto who grew up skiing at Osler Bluff Ski Club in Collingwood Ontario. I started racing at the age of 4 and promptly got my first podium, a silver medal in the U5 Club Championships. Skiing in the Alpine Ontario SOD division from age 7, I was able to compete with some amazing skiers who drove me to be better each year. Fitness was my focus from the age of 11, getting stronger in the gym so I could be faster on the snow. By U16 I won my first OCUP race and in 2022 I represented Ontario at the Alpine Canada U16 National Championships, where I came first place in the Skills Combine. In 2023 I represented Ontario at the Canada Winter Games and The Whistler Cup.
I have always enjoyed playing many sports outside of skiing. I started with gymnastics at a young age. In school, I joined track and field, ultimate frisbee, swimming and volleyball, to name a few. I played Rep Soccer until I was 15 years old, training with the team during the winter months so I could compete during the summer. Sports are definitely my thing.
This year, I left my Osler Bluff club team as well as my home, school, family and friends in Toronto, to live and attend school in Collingwood and ski on the Ontario Development Ski Team. I am dedicated to achieving my goals in skiing, but I know I couldn’t do it without the support I get from my family, coaches, sponsors, teachers, trainers, tutors, the list goes on! Partnering with Snow Athletes Canada allows me to raise money to put towards the high cost of travel, training and equipment and more that comes with being a ski racer from Ontario. Thank you so much for your support!
