My name is Luis Freeman, and I’m an alpine snowboard racer from Toronto, Ontario. This year, I’m excited to begin my journey on the NextGen program of the Canada Snowboard National Team. Snowboarding has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and ever since grade school, I’ve spent every winter honing my skills on the slopes.
In recent years, I’ve had the privilege of competing in both national and international competitions, including two Junior World Championships and making my World Cup debut in 2022. This season, I’ll be focusing primarily on the North American (NorAm) circuit, with plans to also compete in several World Cup and Europa Cup events, culminating in my final Junior World Championships (JWC).
During the off-season, I train at the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) to build the physical strength and endurance I need to stay competitive. Over the summer, I work at Muskoka Woods as a wakeboarding and waterskiing instructor, helping kids develop their skills on the water.
My achievements include three NorAm podiums, 7th place in PSL at JWC, 6th place in the team event at JWC, and 1st at the Canada Winter Games.
Competing at this level requires not only rigorous training and unyielding dedication but also significant financial resources. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pursue my dreams, and I truly appreciate all the support I’ve received and will continue to receive along the way.
