Katie has had a “challenging” FIS career, but keeps bouncing back. Katie has been close on the heels of hr older sister, Stefanie, since she could stand up. She won the U14 BC Provincial Championships, won the U16 CanAm Championships, won a gold medal at the Canada Games, and was the top Canadian at the Whistler Cup.
As a first year FIS athlete, she was the top-ranked ‘99 birth year in Canada, and was 3rd at the Senior Nationals in DH, behind Stefanie in 2nd and Valerie Grenier in 1st. After missing a season with an ACL injury, Katie was the U19 Canadian GS Champion, and 3rd in SL while attending GMVS for her final year of high school.
Katie raced 2 seasons, both shortened by subsequent ACL injuries, with Team X Alpine, based in Park City, before joining the University of Colorado NCAA Ski Team. After rehabilitating from her 4th ACL reconstruction, Katie was racing again last year, as part of the University of Colorado NCAA Championship winning team. She also finished 4th at the Canadian Senior Championships in SL.
Katie has 2 more years of NCAA eligibility, and remains as motivated as ever. She has trained on snow in Copper Mountain in May and Coronet Peak, New Zealand in August.
She is an inspiration to everyone who come in contact with her. She has graduated with B Sc, Hons, in Neuro Biology, with a psychology minor and a 4.0 GPA. She is now doing a Masters degree and is looking forward to racing with the University of Colorado Ski Team.
