I am Elizabeth Hosking, a 23-year-old halfpipe snowboarder from Longueuil, Quebec. I’m a two-time Olympian (2018 and 2022) and I have my eyes set on the 2026 Olympics in Italy.
As long as I can remember, I’ve always dreamed of becoming an Olympian. Even before I started snowboarding, I knew I wanted to be a high-level athlete. I still remember being asked by my first snowboard coach when I was 10 what my dreams were in snowboarding, and I responded, “I want to be an Olympic medalist.” That fire has never gone away.
A part of my dream came true in 2018 when I was nominated to the Olympic team, becoming the youngest athlete to represent Canada at those Winter Games. Since then, I’ve been training full-time to reach the second part of my goal. My breakout season was the 2021-2022 season, when I kicked things off by finishing 4th at the Colorado World Cup. I had several more top-5 finishes before ending the contest season with a 6th place finish at the Olympics. Although that’s a respectable finish, I wanted more. So, I put in extra hard work that summer back home to be ready for the following season.
It paid off. I was able to stand on my first-ever World Cup podium in Colorado, then again in the home World Cup in Calgary. I also finished second in the overall World Cup standings after making every final that season. I capped the year by standing on the second step of the World Championships podium—an achievement I will cherish forever.
Last season, I faced an unfortunate setback when I took a fall during a preseason training camp and concussed myself. Recovery took longer than expected, and I had to make the difficult decision not to compete.
This season, I’m looking forward to putting my bib on again and laying the foundation to prepare for the 2026 Olympics and, ultimately, achieving my goal.
Thank you so much for supporting me on this journey.
